Applying CMS Risk Adjustment Factors: An Informaticist's Experience
Join the Oregon Chapter of HIMSS for a discussion focusing on Utah's strategy for and experiences with using HIE and risk adjustment factors for Population Health. Guest speaker Dr. Matthew Hoffman will present his unique perspective and review examples of how Health IT and risk adjustment factor data analytics allowed providers, payers, and public health across communities to identify and address population health needs. There will be time to engage in discussion with Dr. Hoffman. Bring your questions for this educational and networking event.

Matthew Hoffman, MD
Chief Medical Informatics Officer
Utah Health Information Network
Dr. Matthew Hoffman is the Chief Medical Informatics Officer (CMIO) at UHIN, where he oversees the clinical analysis of data. After joining UHIN in 2011, Matt architected and oversaw the implementation of CareAchieve, UHIN’s data analytics tool.
Matt earned his Medical Doctorate from the University of Utah. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Brigham Young University, and is currently completing his Master’s Degree in Biomedical Informatics at the University of Utah. Following his graduation from medical school, Matt completed a fellowship in Pharmaceutical Informatics with Roche in San Francisco, California. He also worked as a research coordinator for the Utah Psoriasis Initiative, where he coauthored multiple papers published in national dermatology journals.
Matt has also presented on health information exchange at both local and national conferences, including at the Health Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Annual Conference and the eHealth Initiative Annual Conference.
Continuing Education Hours
This event has been approved for up to 1.5 hours in continuing education (CE) hours for use in fulfilling the continuing education requirements of the Certified Professional in Healthcare Information Management Systems (CPHIMS) and Certified Associate in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CAHIMS).
