This webinar hosted by Ryan Palmer, EdD, Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at OHSU, will describe how The Department of Family Medicine at Oregon Health Science University uses cost-effective, Internet-based videoconferencing software to administer a clinical simulation, called the Telemedicine Objective Structured Clinical Examination (TeleOSCE).
Participants will learn about a straightforward, scalable process for implementing a similar simulation with different learner levels and clinical disciplines. Webinar participants will also gain an understanding of how "out of box" internet based videoconferencing technologies (e.g. Adobe Connect, Skype, Google Hangouts, etc.) can be leveraged to deliver a simulated rural telemedicine environment that exposes clinical-learners of all levels to the competencies necessary for delivering patient-centered care using technology.
The webinar attendees will discover how implementing the TeleOSCE can solve the logistical issues of administering clinical simulations to remote trainees while simultaneously assessing the clinical and technical competence necessary for delivering patient-centered care using technology. Successful disseminations of the TeleOSCE to other institutions and professions will also be shared.
This session will also answer audience questions as well as discuss the impact of the simulation, successful dissemination of the simulation to other institutions and professions and how this work can translate to the professional clinical environment.
